This machine is engineered for boring precision coupling bolt holes in turbines and other coupling applications, optimized for machining fit bolts in large couplings. Bearing Span Requirements
The distance between the cutting position and the bearing must not exceed 5 times the boring bar diameter.
The recommended maximum bearing span to meet the specifications is as follows:

The BB5500 mounts via the coupling's outer diameter. Due to the length limitations of the Rotary Drive Unit (RDU) and the bearing bracket, the distance from the coupling's outer diameter to the bolt circle diameter is limited and varies with the coupling diameter.
